Left to right: Milwaukee-themed sweatpants, t-shirt, and beanie designs.

Inspiration for clothing and apparel designs is seen above.
As a part of a series of projects I have been working on, these concept clothing and apparel designs you see here display distinct aspects of the city known as Milwaukee (Cream City), WI. Milwaukee’s identity as the Cream City comes from its iconic cream-colored bricks, which are made from local clay that have been used in a wide range of the city’s historic buildings. Because of this, all my designs incorporate the cream color with a certain effect.
The sweatpants design featured on the top left above takes inspiration from the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA. Therefore, the colors of green and cream not only resemble the basketball team, but I wanted to take it a step further by making the text look like it was built within the cream color (was going for a brick effect with the text).
Seen in the middle on top is the shirt design that illustrates the city’s history with water, brewing, and unity. All of this history is captured through the shirt’s colors: blue (representing the city’s relationship with its rivers and Lake Michigan), gold (showcasing the city’s rich history of brewing), and white (symbolizing Milwaukee’s unity and the sun rising over a new day).
Speaking of standing for history, the beanie design on the right up top took cues from a local city sign found online, and then through the city’s history in brewing. The Cream City text found on the top of the beanie was designed to highlight a similar look to what can be seen from the sign, and the color red pertains meaning to brewing culture.
In conclusion, I’m happy with how these designs turned out, and I hope others can take pride in one day representing the Cream City in clothing and apparel designs like the ones shown here.
